Stacy L. Cartwright, RN, and Others Recognized during National Nurses’ Week
ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.—May 24, 2012—Earlier this month, Albemarle Health celebrated National Nurses’ Week to recognize nurses for their extraordinary dedication and compassion. As part of the celebration, they hosted their annual Nurse of Distinction Ceremony where they honored nurses from each department and the “2012 Nurse of the Year” Stacy L. Cartwright, RN, from the Albemarle Hospital Emergency Department.
“Stacy’s tireless work ethic and contagious positive attitude shine through in her daily nursing duties as she ensures all patients receive exceptional medical attention,” said Daniel Drake, RN, MSN, Vice President of Patient Care Services. “We are proud of her, as we are of all our nurses for helping us provide high quality, personalized care.”
Other nurses at Albemarle Health were also recognized as “Nurses of Distinction” for their commitment to the profession:

- Pamela S. Etheridge, RN, Healthy Communities (for all ancillary departments);
- Karen G. Hale, RN, Surgical Services;
- Bernadette G. Hopson, RN, Women’s Services;
- Casey H. Jenkins, RN, Regional Medical Center;
- Kesha H. Nixon, RN, 2nd Floor;
- Bethan D. Parker, RN, 5th Floor; and
- Sandra B. Rowe, RN, Step Down Unit.
Nurses of Distinction are chosen by their departmental peers, while all Albemarle Health team members are invited to vote for Nurse of the Year.
Supported by the American Nurses Association (ANA), National Nurses’ Week celebrates the 3 million registered nurses who work to save lives and improve the health of millions of individuals. Every year on May 6th, National Nurse Week kicks off its six-day celebration ending on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession.
