Community Benefit

Investing in our community means more than delivering quality care and services. It also means giving our time and financial support. Sentara Albemarle Medical Center’s community involvement is as diverse as the counties we serve. Our staff typically hosts or participates in more than 150 community events, including healthcare initiatives like hosting free health fairs like Women’s Day that draw thousands of participants and supporting our two adopted schools through science fairs and school supply drives.

Our commitment to the community isn’t just something we talk about. It’s demonstrated in everything we do. In 2012, Sentara Albemarle Medical Center contributed:

  • 23,154 volunteer hours to the local community
  • $2,989,202 in charity care
