Welcome to Albemarle Health. We are a regional healthcare
resource, serving seven counties in northeastern North Carolina.
Albemarle Health offers a wide array of healthcare services,
caring professionals, and state of the art technology, linked
together from Gates to Dare counties.
Although we have a new website (www.albemarlehealth.org),
and a new logo and signage, Albemarle Health's Albemarle
Hospital and our affiliates remain part of a not for profit,
regional community healthcare provider, governed by the
Albemarle Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners.
We offer services to residents in Gates County at Gates
Medical Center; in Pasquotank County at Albemarle Hospital
and Regional Oncology Center; and in Dare County with Regional
Medical Center, and Island Medical Center.
Albemarle
Hospital is 182-bed, acute care facility that offers the
residents of northeastern North Carolina state of the art

including: brain surgery using Stealth Brain-Mapping technology;

diagnostic catheterizations, and pacemaker implantations;
complete diagnostic radiology services including nuclear
medicine, MRI, breast MRI, Mobile PET services, CT scans
utilizing a 16 slice, 3-D spiral CT scanner, and a PACS
digital imaging system; multi-modality cancer treatment,

treatment planning, and multi-leaf intensity-modulated radiation
therapy (IMRT) allowing the delivery of precise doses of
high energy radiation to tumors; renal dialysis; Greenlight
PVP laser technology, used to treat prostate conditions;

and fast track emergency service.
Regional Medical Center, located in Kitty Hawk, offers
residents and visitors an outpatient surgery center featuring
surgical suites equipped to offer everything from breast
augmentation to cataract surgery, and a variety of small
incision surgery procedures. Regional Medical Center also
features a laboratory, diagnostic imaging services, and
offices for nearly 50 physicians.
Manteo's Island Medical Center brings primary care to residents
of Dare County, including a board certified physician and
a family nurse practitioner; and Gates County Medical Center,
in Gatesville, features primary care for residents of Gates
County through a family practice physician and a physician
assistant.
The Regional Oncology Center is a state of the art cancer
treatment center located in Elizabeth City, on the campus
of Albemarle Hospital. The center brings sophisticated care
to patients with all types of cancer, using the latest technology
including IMRT and CT simulation.
We also extend our healthcare services to those who need
it most, but can't afford to visit a physician. Albemarle
Health's Albemarle Hospital Foundation funds and operates
Community Care Clinics which offer free primary care, prescriptions,
and prescription assistance to our region's growing indigent,
uninsured, and underinsured population. We now have clinics
in each county of our service area: Camden, Chowan, Currituck,
Gates, Pasquotank, and Perquimans counties.
The name Albemarle Health reflects what we've grown to
become. We're a regional healthcare system that offers a
variety of care and services, educational opportunities,
and community outreach to the residents of our seven county
service area. We're proud of Albemarle Health, and all it
encompasses.
Sincerely,
Sharon M. Tanner
