Albemarle Health’s Regional Medical Center opened its doors in 1991 with one outpatient surgery suite, urgent care services, and fewer than 10 medical specialists. Over the past 19 years, “Regional,”as it is known locally, has grown to include two surgery suites, lab and diagnostic imaging services, urgent care services provided by Beach Medical Care, Ltd., as well as offices for more than 50 medical specialists, including allergy, dermatology, family practice, gastroenterology, OB/GYN, oncology, nephrology and internal medicine, ENT, plastic surgery, podiatry, pulmonology, diagnostic imaging, rheumatology, surgery, and urology.
Patients and visitors are warmly greeted upon entering the front door of the facility (known as the “Medical Specialists” entrance), which is decorated in soft earth tones, and the walls are adorned with multi-media works of local artists and sculptors.
RMC Surgery Center
The Surgery Center at Regional Medical Center has two licensed surgery suites, board-certified anesthesiologists, and highly skilled and compassionate registered nurses. The area’s leading board-certified surgeons perform procedures such as colonoscopies, endoscopies, plastic surgery, cataract surgery, and orthopedic surgery procedures.
RMC Diagnostic Imaging
Diagnostic Imaging at Regional Medical Center provides the community with some of the most comprehensive diagnostic services on the Outer Banks, consisting of state of the art CT, MRI, digital mammography, bone density testing, ultrasound, X-ray, and fluoroscopy, all offered on-site. Kenneth Peat, M.D., a board-certified full-time radiologist, completes the team of certified professional technologists.
RMC Education Center
Regional Medical Center’s extensive list of education programs keeps community members abreast of the latest healthcare information. The Education Center is home to “Lunch and Learns” and “Dinner with a Doctor” programs, as well as various free and low-cost health screenings.
Our Regional Medical Center Community Health Fair, held every fall, is a favorite of our friends and neighbors – many who travel from Currituck County and the far reaches of Dare County. The event offers free flu shots, health screenings, and the opportunity to meet with leading healthcare providers in the area.
A full draw station is on the premises of Regional Medical Center, with services provided by Albemarle Hospital. The lab is open from 7:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
