JAMES F. “JIM” PERRY BEGINS APPOINTMENT TO ALBEMARLE HOSPITAL AUTHORITY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

The Albemarle Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners has accepted the nominations of Jeff Dixon, Sonja Hibbard, and Cecil Perry to serve as Pasquotank County representatives to its 15-member board. Dixon and Perry both serve on the Pasquotank County Board of Commissioners, and Hibbard is an independent business leader in Elizabeth City.

Mr. Dixon is the president and general manager of City Beverage Co., Inc., in Elizabeth City and Manteo. He has served as president of the Elizabeth City Jaycees, was twice selected as president of the Elizabeth City Boys and Girls Club, and was named chairman of the Elizabeth City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He was elected to the Pasquotank County Board of Commissioners in 2004, and was chosen by his peers to sit on the Albemarle Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners.

Ms. Hibbard operates S.W. Hibbard, CPA, in Elizabeth City. She has served as chairman of the Committee of 100 Board of Directors and the College of the Albemarle Board of Trustees, was the president of the Albemarle Hopeline and Elizabeth City Habitat for Humanity board of directors, and served on the Elizabeth City – Pasquotank Industrial Development Commission Board of Directors. She was named to an at-large seat on the Albemarle Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners by the Pasquotank County Board of Commissioners.

Mr. Perry is a native of Pasquotank County, and served as principal of Pasquotank Elementary School, and Central Elementary School. He is a member of the Albemarle Mental Health Board, the Albemarle District Jail Commission, the Juvenile Crime Prevention Commission, the Education Board of the North Carolina County Commissioners. Mr. Perry received the Long Leaf Pine award from Governor Easley. He was past president of the Albemarle Economic Development Commission, and currently serves as chairman of the Local State Employees Credit Union Advisory Board, the Elizabeth City Housing Authority, and is Chairman of the Pasquotank County Commissioners.

“These three distinguished individuals each bring a different set of skills to our board,” said Sharon M. Tanner, president and CEO of Albemarle Health. “We’re excited to have them as new members of our leadership team, and we look forward to their input as we face the ever-changing landscape of healthcare. Their balance of business, education, and community service will serve as a valuable asset to our vision to be the health system of choice in northeastern North Carolina.”

Dixon, Hibbard, and Perry, along with James F. “Jim” Perry, representing Dare County, and Perquimans’ Sherri L. “Sue” Weimar, began their three-year terms on the Albemarle Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners in January. Each board member serves one three-year term, and may serve a second term if selected for reappointment.
