ALBEMARLE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION AND CHOWAN HOSPITAL BRING COMMUNITY CARE CLINIC TO TYNER
The Albemarle Hospital Foundation, in partnership with Chowan Hospital, will open a Community Care Clinic in Tyner in March. The new, centrally located clinic will replace the existing Community Care Clinic sites in Edenton, Gatesville, and Hertford.
The newest Community Care Clinic, located at 2869 Virginia Road, in Tyner, will offer residents of Chowan, Gates, and Perquimans counties the same high quality services available at the former clinic locations. Phil Donahue, Executive Director of the Albemarle Hospital Foundation, said the Tyner Community Care Clinic becomes more of a regional, one-stop facility that will bring help to more of its targeted population.
“By opening a clinic in Tyner, and partnering with Chowan Hospital, we’re able to help more people in this three-county service area,” he said. “The programs will remain the same, it’s just an easier location for most people to reach – we’re essentially in the middle of these counties, and more people will have access to the clinic.”
The Tyner clinic offers the area’s indigent, underinsured, and uninsured prescription assistance, primary care, and a dispensing pharmacy.
“We have a registered pharmacist in our dispensing pharmacy, and a registered nurse and family nurse practitioner seeing patients through our primary care medical appointments,” Donahue said. “The Tyner location allows us to benefit more of the people who need our help the most.”
The prescription assistance program will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday; the dispensing pharmacy (non-narcotic drugs only) will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday and Wednesday; and primary care medical appointments are available from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday and Wednesday.
“We’re pleased to partner with Chowan Hospital in bringing much needed healthcare to the underserved residents of this part of northeastern North Carolina,” Donahue said. “A Community Care Clinic in Tyner makes sense in that it brings a variety of healthcare options to residents of Chowan, Gates, and Perquimans counties – in a central location.”
