New Vendor for Cafeteria Services
Albemarle Hospital has contracted with Morrison Healthcare Food Services to manage Nutritional Services - they began operating the cafeteria on October 15. Debra Perkins is Morrison's Director of Nutritional Services. She brings more than 20 years of food service management experience, most recently with Bayside Hospital in Virginia Beach, where she served as Director of Food and Nutritional Services with Morrison Healthcare Food Services.
Morrison is a member of Compass Group; the nation's only management company dedicated exclusively to providing food, nutrition, and dining services to the healthcare and senior living markets. Morrison is committed to delivering innovative patient and retail programs to its customers, high quality services, and low costs to clients.
Over the next few months, the cafeteria will undergo a renovation; and there will be no significant changes in the menu. Morrison will have new menus for patients, guests, employees, and physicians when the renovated cafeteria opens. If you have any questions or comments about the upcoming changes in the cafeteria, talk to a member of the Morrison management team, or call Debra, at extension 4443.
December 3
Caféteria closes, and renovations begin. Morrison will operate a temporary kitchen; food service will operate out of the E-Cafe area, and will feature limited selections of cold and hot foods, desserts, and beverages.
December 12
"Catering to You" implementation for patients begins. Catering associates (CA) will interact with patients and nurses, providing patients with menu choices before each meal; CA's will build the tray in the kitchen (temp kitchen) at their work station, focusing on details of the patients' orders. Nurses and patients will use pagers to communicate with CA - allowing nursing to handle fewer food issues and more nursing related duties.
End of February
Renovations to both the kitchen and cafeteria are anticipated to be complete by the end of February.
New Cafeteria Features
The renovated cafeteria will feature a food court with a new grill (including a Baha Flats). Different foods are displayed on the Baha Flats, ranging from Fajitas to Philly Style Cheesesteaks and Pork Bar-B-Que; grilled-to-order items will still be available. Some examples of the new foods are:
Deli - A Euro Case will display a variety of wraps, sandwiches, and salads.
Italian Station - gourmet pizzas, calzones, and pastas. The pizzas and calzones will be cooked fresh using a Turbo Chef oven, right at the station.
Salad Station - will feature items such as Grilled Shrimp, Caesars, and Asian Stir Fry.
Outtakes - grab and go salads, parfaits, desserts, and premium beverages.
Market Carvery - Morrison homestyle foods, such as meatloaf, turnip greens, green bean casserole, spinach souffle. Albemarle Hospital's fried chicken, using their original recipe, will remain on Wednesdays and Sundays; Friday fish will also continue!
Seattle's Best Coffee - bagel and pastry section will include Seattle's Best Coffee
New, double-sided cash registers will also be included for speed of service.
