ALBEMARLE HEALTH'S CAMP NOWEEZIN 2008: GOING FOR THE GOLD,
AN OLYMPIC-SIZED EVENT MIXING EDUCATION AND FUN
Albemarle Health encouraged children with asthma to go for the gold at Albemarle Health's Camp NoWeezin 2008: Beijing Olympics-inspired asthma camp. The seventh annual day camp took place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 25-27, at the United States Coast Guard Base Air Station Elizabeth City.
This year, 30 children with asthma participated in camp for a healthy dose of fun including asthma games, tumbling, Olympic-style games, taekwondo, dancing, a bicycle rodeo, and swimming.
"Camp NoWeezin is such a wonderful event for us," said Arina Boldt, Albemarle Health's Director of Community Outreach. "Each year, we seem to surpass the level of fun and education we provide to our campers; and each year, as camp organizers, we're amazed at the generosity of our sponsors and volunteers, including Dr. Margaret Donohoe and Dr. Timothy Tolson." We also had volunteers from various community organizations, including: Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County school nurses, Albemarle Smart Start Partnership, The Dance Company of Hertford, River City Community Development Corporation, Albemarle Regional Health Services, NC Cooperative Extension, Got 2 Dance Studio, Albemarle Area Safe Kids, KICKS Christian Taekwondo, and our very own respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and marketing and community outreach staff.
