WOMEN’S DAY 2007 – HATS OFF TO WOMEN
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, SOUTHGATE MALL
Hats off to you, ladies! Nearly 2,000 women, and their families, throughout northeastern North Carolina took part in Albemarle Health’s free, bi-annual Women’s Day celebration at Southgate Mall in Elizabeth City Saturday, October 6.
Women’s Day is this region’s premier health awareness/information event. Thousands of women and their families take part in Women’s Day, and this year we again celebrated women and the role they play in their family’s healthcare.
“Even with the hectic schedules most families have today – both parents working, after-school events, sports, and activities – women continue to be the driving force behind keeping everyone in the household healthy,” said Arina Boldt, Director of Marketing and Data Management. “We recognize that everyone’s busier these days, and Women’s Day has evolved to reflect that recognition … it allows Albemarle Health to bring a wide variety of healthcare information to women in one place, on one day, at one event.”

More than 50 exhibitors signed up for this year’s Women’s Day inside the mall – all exclusively healthcare-related. Albemarle Health’s Albemarle Hospital featured departments and programs from throughout the hospital, and provided free health screenings that included Well Screens (blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol checks), bone density, and glaucoma checks. There were physician’s offices, fitness facilities, chiropractors … and more on hand to answer questions and provide those in attendance with information they could use to feel and look better, including botox and photo rejuvenation.
“Women’s Day 2007 was another great success,” Boldt said. “We’re honored to bring an event like this to the people of northeastern North Carolina. We couldn’t offer such a wide variety of healthcare information, screenings, and prizes to so many without the help of great organizations like Southgate Mall, our area physicians, and healthcare related facilities. We’re already looking forward to our next Women’s Day!”
