Much like our clinical services, Albemarle Hospital invests heavily in our community service programs. We adopt local schools, and donate more than 9,000 hours of volunteer time to area organizations.

ALBEMARLE AREA SAFE KIDS

The Albemarle Area SAFE KIDS Coalition (AASK) is sponsored by Albemarle Hospital. This Coalition's mission is to reduce the death and disability to children 14 and under that is caused by unintentional injury. AASK is a group of local agencies and people that work to accomplish this mission. Outreach is provided to several counties in Northeastern North Carolina and is based on several key injury risk areas for children.

The Albemarle Area SAFE KIDS Coalition is a chapter of the North Carolina SAFE KIDS network. The parent organization, the National SAFE KIDS Campaign, along with North Carolina SAFE KIDS, helps to support local activities through grants, equipment, and the availability of other such resources.

This Coalition was started in 1996 as the Pasquotank County SAFE KIDS Coalition and was sponsored by the Pasquotank - Camden Emergency Medical Service. Since that time, sponsorship was transferred to Albemarle Hospital and Pasquotank - Camden EMS continues to be a strong member within the Coalition.

Several area agencies support work to support the many activities that aim to improve the safety of our area's children. These agencies, listed below, support the Coalition by providing personnel, resources, in-kind contributions, and a vision that will help create a strong local network of injury prevention advocates. Without this support, the Albemarle Area SAFE KIDS Coalition would not exist.
